The hair we provide is pure, 100% Indian virgin hair that has never been mixed, chemically processed, or altered. You will never find a synthetic, processed or animal fiber mixed in our hair.  

The Other Hair has Mixed Materials

Their hair is mixed with animal hair, synthetic (plastic) hair or lesser quality hair in order to reduce the price. Whenever they claim 100% human hair, it is definitely untrue. Their human hair is a mix of Chinese Non-Remy and Indian Non-Remy.  

Black Velvet Hair is 100% Remy

Remy Hair does not tangle. Remy hair has all the attributes of natural flowing hair. It wears and washes with ease.

What is Remy Hair?

Remy hair has cuticles that are running the same direction from root to end. It is sewn onto the weft the same direction your hair grows naturally so it falls effortlessly. Remy hair is all natural.      

The Other Hair is Non-Remy

Whenever they claim their hair is Remy hair, this is also mostly untrue. When you wear and wash their hair, it will tangle.

What is Non-Remy Hair?

Non-Remy hair is inverted hair where the cuticles are running up and down, not one direction. This becomes a problem because you will not experience the great attributes of human hair with remy.

Our hair is never mixed with several lengths. In fact, mixing hair is not a step in our production process. We pre-select the hair to find the absolute best quality. No mixing involved - always the donor's natural hair length. Some strands will be longer and some will be shorter...just as your hair naturally grows.

The Other Hair has 
Mixed Lengths

During production, they mix lengths and wave patterns together to make the hair appear fuller and consistent. For example, every strand of a bundle of 18" is exactly 18". That is not how hair is grown or maintained. They either mix the hair, or cut the hair at exactly 18". Or, when you open their bundles, you will see gaps in the lengths where they added other lengths to make their bundles fuller.

all Cuticles Intact

Each and every piece of our hair has the cuticle intact. There is no silicone coating process involved. Our hair is unprocessed, clean, fresh and natural. Our hair needs no silicone. Silicone would interfere with the natural beauty and attributes of the hair.

The Other Hair has 
Stripped Cuticles

They strip the cuticles with an acid wash to reduce the short term tangling effect. Next, they apply a silicone coating (which helps make the hair shiny and silky on a temporary basis). After the silicone coating is washed off, the hair will tangle immediately and ball up while installed (3-4 washes). The attractiveness of hair depends on this silicone coating to mask poor quality hair in order to be sold.  

Black Velvet Hair has Reinforced Wefts

We use a three-headed sewing machine to make our wefts to ensure that the hair does not shed. You can also wear the hair longer because the weft is very strong and will not break down. We work with our plant in India and provide them with customer feedback to ensure they make the best wefts possible.

The Other Hair has Poorly 
Made Wefts

They use a two-headed sewing machine to make their wefts. This produces a fragile weft that causes the hair to shed. Their wefts are either too thick to get a needle through, or too thin and fragile. Their "mustaches" are thick, long and inconsistent.

Possesses Longevity

Our hair will last over 12 months and still remains manageable, lustrous and strong because it is not coated with any chemicals or treatments that mask poor quality. It is the highest quality hair, from beginning to end.

The Other Hair Lacks Longevity

Their hair will last 2-3 weeks before it begins to mat, tangle and loses its sheen. Processed hair, 70/30 hair, or packed hair will start to lose the silicone coating after 3-4 washes. Once the coating is gone, it will revert to its poor quality state.

Hair has a company factory in India that receives, inspects, wefts and cleans the best hair found. We accept only the best quality donor hair and the entire construction process is completely supervised by Black Velvet Hair management.

Other Hair Companies Import their Hair from Wholesalers or 3/4 Party Companies

They cannot make changes to their bundles because they are not involved in the construction process. The quality (or lack thereof) is completely dependent on someone else's standards.
